ART of acceptance, reflection, and transformation is an art (creative), an acronym (A.R.T.), and a practice of personal growth for holistic well-being.

ART is a simple system that keeps us from drifting away from our core values, world views, and authentic identities. Further, it builds wisdom and compassion with a vulnerable, whole-hearted, collective consciousness.

What is the art of acceptance?

Acceptance is the foundation for quiet contemplation which supports personal growth.

In human psychology is a person’s assent to the reality of a situation, recognizing a process or condition (often a negative or uncomfortable situation) without attempting to change it or protest it. The concept is close in meaning to acquiescence, derived from the Latin acquiēscere (to find rest in). 


Radical acceptance

Radical acceptance, according to Marsha Linehan, author of the DBT Skills Training Manual can be defined as follows:

  • Radical means all the way, complete and total.
  • It is accepting in your mind, your heart, and your body.
  • It’s when you stop fighting reality or feeling agitated because reality is not the way you want it–and to let go of bitterness.

Acceptance does not mean
agreement or losing your core values, world views or voice.

What acceptance does mean
is stop the struggle and
open the door to reflection and meaningful transformation.

Practicing acceptance prepares you to live in this changing world, where you never know what’s going to happen next. Acceptance is like protecting yourself with your own shield.

What is the art of reflection?

The myriad of energy, emotions, actions, information, choices, challenges, and concerns we face daily can be overwhelming. Taking periodic time-outs helps us to quietly reflect on our thoughts, actions, emotions, experiences, and interactions.

The aim is to increase understanding, harmony, and equanimity.

What is the art of transformation?

Transformation is an artful paradigm shift of core values, world views, or habitual thoughts with mindful reflection, when it builds holistic well-being.

Transformation may be defined as the process of changing the character or appearance of something in order to improve it.

The more consciously involved in these creative processes, with an intentional attitude, the greater the rewards of your efforts.
